I need some help

I need to reach out to all of you for assistance. I have a HUGE problem, and I don't know what steps I should take to resolve it.

My CD Player in my Van died and we are set to take a vacation on Saturday. To Kansas.... with both kids....and no music.....THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!

According to the dealer, the entire stereo system will have to be replaced at a cost of $500 plus labor. GAH! I don't think so!

In retaliation, I went to a local stereo place today where I was quoted $350 for a new Panasonic (including labor) but apparently the most expensive part is some stupid harness set up because the Air Bags, DING noise (your door is ajar, your keys are in the ignition, turn your lights off fool!), and several other items are wired through the radio! WTF? What sort of GM Genius came up with this idea?

Anywho, is this right? Is the guy trying to screw me out of more money than is necessary, or is he being honest? I would search the internet, but I have NO CLUE what I'm looking for.

Please, if you can provide any insight on this, I would really appreciate it! Oh, and BTW, I have an appointment scheduled Wednesday morning, in case I decide to fork the money over....

Gifts for the person who has everything!

We all know someone who is incredibly hard to buy for. You want to get them something that you know they would love, but also something that is memorable. Out of the ordinary. I believe I have found the answer.

Archie McPhee - who apparently has been obsessed with monkeys since 1980 - offers some of the most interesting gifts I have ever found.

  • For anyone with German ethnicity, how about your very own Lederhosen!
  • For most men, bacon should be added to everything. Now there's this option for after meals!
Now I'll never have to wonder what kind of gift to get my friends again!

This pretty much sums it up:

So there I was, minding my own business...

This weekend we went to Theatiki for a re-enactment where we met up with some good friends of ours, Red, Will and Sari.

Even though we have been doing these types of events for many years, we are still considered "new" to the circuit. We learned many new things this weekend that I would like to share a few of them with all of you.

  1. Chickens can't swim - Apparently throwing one chicken into a lake isn't good enough to test this theory, you have to remove all doubt by tossing TWELVE of them in and watching them sink!
  2. The Three B's - This is a magic solution that you can use for practically anything (much like Windex as shown in the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"). It's an ointment, a gun oil solution, and great for any number of ailments you may otherwise have to endure. The all natural ingredients are Bees Wax, Bear Grease and Butt Juice! Don't it smell GREAT!
  3. Don't forget to wrap your wiener - Apparently some people find a condom commercial with two wiener dogs having sex "offensive". I say, "Good Idea!".
  4. Dumping Out - There were hours of discussion about people who and places where you can take a shit while outdoors. Under rocks, on the side of a mountain while backpacking as concerned people stop and check on your unattended 18 year old daughter, who is kind enough to point out where you are sitting (thinking you were on the OTHER SIDE of the ridge) so you have to smile and wave - What else are you going to do?! In addition, we were regaled with stories of how some people take a shit so big they have to stand up to get off of it..NICE
Anywho, I feel I learned a lot. Probably more than I needed to know, but what a great time! I'm looking forward to the next event where I plan on bringing Cheesecake and Apple Pie so Red, Sari and I (and anyone else I can get to drink with us) can get soused!

Oh, and I'm not playing Three's...I don't know how, but SOMEONE cheats!

Age is relative

Today I turn 36 years old....and I'm actually not bothered by my age for the first time in years!

I don't look too bad for the Mother of a 14 year old soon-to-be Freshman in High School and a 4 year old who melts my heart with every glimpse of his bright blue eyes. In addition, I have an incredible husband who helped make me the woman I am today. Without him, I'm certain things would have been quite different for me!

Thanks to everyone!

Good Times.....Goooooooooooooooooooood Times!

Almost EVERYONE ELSE has already put up their posts, so I figure I'll give some link love instead of writing the whole thing down again. For the few who haven't posted yet, there is still time left!

I would like to say for the record, it was a difficult decision as to whether I was going to go shopping with the girls or shooting with the guys. I believe I made the correct decision in shopping (even if I did spend Contagion's beer money) because I made quite an impression on him with my new dress :)

Rubber Ducky...You're the one!

Oh wait....that was Ernie, not me:

You Are Bert

Extremely serious and a little eccentric, people find you loveable - even if you don't love them!

You are usually feeling: Logical - you rarely let your emotions rule you

You are famous for: Being smart, a total neat freak, and maybe just a little evil

How you life your life: With passion, even if your odd passions (like bottle caps and pigeons) are baffling to others
