I must be heartless

I have today off of work, so I'm taking the time to do a few things around the house that I keep putting off and just enjoying my free day overall!

Then I hear a knock at the door.

Standing at the door are two girls, probably between the ages of 7 and 9. One of them is holding what appears to be a donation can.

But they aren't selling anything....

"Hi - we are going door to door collecting money because our Mom and Dad don't have jobs. Could you spare a dollar or two?"

I wasn't exactly sure how to feel.

First I wanted yell that their parents should "GET A JOB". Even with a crappy job market you can still work somewhere, and their parents probably aren't getting unemployment, otherwise they wouldn't need to send their kids door to door to beg for money. Then I realized that yelling at kids probably wasn't the best tactic to take.

Second I was shocked....what kind of parent sends their kids out to beg for money? But perhaps the parent's didn't send them out door to door....maybe the kids were trying to help their Mom and Dad on their own, and this was the only way they could think to do it.

I told them that I do not keep cash around (which is true) and off they went, but I'm still not sure how to feel about this whole situation.

What do you think?

VOTE!!

No Matter WHAT!

Teresa gives us some great reasons why.

Tammi makes us laugh about it :)

Caltechgirl
and I have a lot in common.

Shadoglare did it too.

Don't miss your chance to have your voice heard! We can only complain about the government if we actually took part in the establishment of it!

I have been a Slithering Reptile with TTLB for a very long time now...so long in fact, I seldom ever check my Ecosystem status, but today....for whatever reason I looked at it.

Wish List

Some of you know and some of you don't know what I collect. I have a passion for dragons. I have a rather large collection, but today I realized I am seriously lacking!

Most of the dragons I own are made by Windstone Editions, in addition to several miscellaneous makers, but today I found items that I MUST HAVE.

I need these items!
It's important!
I might die otherwise!!

Ok, maybe not, but I didn't know they existed until today and now I need them!

  1. Curious Dragon Computer Topper.
  2. A Print of the Dragon Hatchling (He's adorable!!)
  3. Stained Glass piece by Robert Oddy.
Just thought I'd mention it....

D Day

Finally!

February 6th is the day I go bright red, and NOT with booger green highlights - just so we're clear T1G!

I e-mailed my stylist with the picture so she knows EXACTLY what I want. Thanks to everyone who voted and I'll be sure to post a picture once it's complete.

And the winner is....

After a week, the winner for my hair color is bright red with 63% of the votes! I am scheduling my appointment within the next week and will be sure to post the results!

Apologies to Ogre and T1G, Booger Green was not the winner.

The time has come again

I was born with black hair. It spanned around my head, very similar to the Graumaugus look. Thankfully when I was very small it all fell out and eventually came in white blonde.

When I became pregnant with my first son, my hair turned darker...into this nasty almost colorless dishwater blonde. Then, it got worse....I didn't notice how bad it was until one day I was on the bathroom at work. I was washing my hands at the sink and looked up at myself in the mirror. Something was wrong. I stopped what I was doing and stared at myself...it looked like my head was glowing. I WAS GOING GREY!!

Oh no...I wasn't going to stand still for this! I wasn't even 30 yet (at that time). I nearly burst into tears when heading back to my desk to work. I couldn't believe it...I was MUCH too young for this to happen. Then I remembered a commercial I saw years before. I believe it was Oil of Olay who stated "Grow old gracefully? No way! I'm going to fight it every step of the way."

I began my search by asking others I worked with who they went to to get their hair done. You see...I have never had good luck with stylists. I once went a place and requested my hair be trimmed to shoulder length, and ended up with a cut that was about 2 inches long ALL OVER! I was furious.

I have finally found a great stylist, and have been with her for several years. She always does a GREAT job, and for the first time in years I'm happy and pleased with all of my results. Oh...I went off on a tangent there...back to the reason for this post. It is time one again to color my hair.

I have decided to set up a poll and have you all decide what hair color I should go with.

Blech

Stupid flu. You know the day is going to be bad when you wake up to have breakfast with the family you see once a year at one of the best restaurants in town for one of your favorite foods (Swedish Pancakes) and the thought of syrup nauseates you....

I never realized that dry toast and flat Sprite taste the same both ways!
