I forgot we had a kitchen table...

Most nights for dinner, we sit in the living room (or in front of the computer) to eat dinner and watch TV. Usually there is no talking, just watching and chewing.

This is normal for us...it's what we have done for.... well, for a very long time. Tonight however, is going to be different. I have decided for the first time in months we are going to sit at the kitchen table to eat dinner (after I clean off the papers and other miscellanous items that seem to appear).

Roasted chicken with stuffing, corn on the cob, garlic mushrooms and pears. I'll let you know how it goes.

UPDATE

Dinner went well. I learned a few things.
  1. Contagion can eat corn on the cob like a cartoon character...I swear I heard the sound of typing and then a DING! when he finished eating a row!
  2. Apparently Clone claims me as his mother only because I eat butter...at least that's what I think he said
  3. Corn will stick to the forehead of a 3 year old for 30 minutes without moving
  4. Boopie actually knows how to set the table! (not sure where he learned that)
  5. There was an intense discussion about how margarine is more like plastic than butter
It was nice to actually have a sit down dinner. Maybe we should do that more often...maybe...

Kid Post

Boopie had a great time for his birthday. His father cannot post about the entire event because of the whole "guy code" but I can post about what I did with him!

For his 13th birthday, he wanted to go to Target and buy a couple of new games for his PSP, so that's where we went. He found some of the things he had been looking for and then asked if we could go and see Mission Impossible III. Now...I liked the movie, it wasn't bad, but it's something I could've saved for a Netflix Rental to be honest. But I'm a girl, I'm allowed to have that opinion *sticks tongue out*

After bringing him home so his father could "make a man" of him, my father-in-law emailed me pictures that my wee lad LEARNED TO RIDE HIS BIKE! He still has training wheels, but the exciting part of this is he can peddle AND steer! YAY! No more pushing him so he can go and then having to steer him away from fences/boards/garages/houses/small animals/his father/brother/myself, etc. Here is the fabulous photo!

Emotions

Sometimes you get some news that your brain can't grasp, so you sit and ponder on it for a while, hoping you will come to a conclusion on how you are supposed to feel. This happened to me yesterday, and today I am still confused on how I should feel.

On one hand I am happy because I know that this news is good for others, but on the other hand, I am incredibly sad...to the point I wish I could cry, but no tears will come. Maybe it's because I spent many years of my life crying everyday so that now, it just doesn't come easily to me anymore, or perhaps it's because I think that crying would be a selfish thing for me to do and I don't want this person to think I'm upset with her because THAT IS NOT THE CASE!

After everything, I have come up with this....THANK YOU Tammi, for being my friend, my blogmomma, my confidant, my shopping buddy and for many other things I have failed to mention. I'm a better person for having met you in person.

On a bright note, I guess I'll be "forced" to visit Florida more frequently now than once every 10 years!

Family Tree

So TIG posted on MyHeritage Face Recognition. I hadn't seen it before as I am incredibly behind in my reading of other's blogs...heck, I'm luck to get the time to post on my own blog, and decided I needed to do it.

I uploaded a photo of myself from one of the re-enactments...no not the one that shows off my tracts of land...and here is what it said:

75% Jennifer Garner (woo hoo!)
67% Jennifer Love Hewitt (not so woo hoo)
65% Jamie Lynn Spears
64% Kate Hudson
60% TIM CURRY! (I'm just a sweet transvestite)
and the killer of killers Steven Hawking at 52%

Well...guess it's a good thing I'm a woman, cause I'd make an awfully ugly man!

Rumour has it...

Apparently word has finally spread at work about my promotion....nevermind that when I was promoted a month ago a huge "CONGRATULATIONS!" email went out to the entire office. I have been attacked by nearly everyone in the office for assistance today!

So I take two days off to go and enjoy myself at a re-enactment and return with well over 100 emails all saying "we need help!" Ok, fine...I can do this. Within 2 hours I had the emails taken care of and was working on other projects, when I was called into a 1:30 meeting and a 2:00 meeting that went until 3:30. I was only gone for two hours....30 more emails came in during that time!

Don't worry, I'm not complaining, I enjoy it very much...it's just odd that it would come all at once like this! I figure it'll take me at least two days to catch up for the time I was gone. It might not be as bad but my darling hubby was sent to Chicago yesterday and won't be back until tomorrow night, so perhaps that has something to do with my being so frazzled.

Until then, I'll think of it as job security :)
