Another Quiz

So I don't have much to blog on tonight so I thought I would take a couple of amusing quizzes.

First off, I couldn't NOT post this one because of the answer (this is just for YOU Ogre!)

llama.... XD
You're a llama! You are uber cool but you just don't

know it. You tend to be a little random at

times but you don't seem to care.

I want to join the Bad Example Clan because...

Apparently my Blog Grandfather Harvey is stunned that so many people would like to be associated with the Bad Example Family. I completely understand, that's because we ROCK!
If you want to join, there are some rules that need to be obeyed. Go here to see them and follow said instructions. Let see how many Clannies we can make examples of! *maniacal laugh*

It's only the nerves

There is a big promotion coming open at work...and I WANT IT!!! I know I can do this job, and I've already come up with several ideas to make it flow more smoothly and timely. I have all of the skills necessary for it, and it's what I want to do. There is only one problem...I am not the best interviewer.

Having an interview is like taking a test...I freeze up and totally forget what I wanted to say and how I wanted to say it. It would be easier on me if the interview was multiple choice, ya know, with multiple choice you get a visual reminder of your answer. I need visual aides sometimes. I am already working on a packet that I intend to distribute to the interviewers showing my current job and how it will relate to the promotion, along with some other stuff. All that will be fine and dandy, but if I freeze up.....

I have no problem speaking in front of large groups of people, or in front of small groups, but with an interview, I know they are judging me and it affects my future...and that makes me incredibly nervous. I hate knowing I am being judged, if someone develops an opinion of me while I am giving a presentation, it doesn't bother me because I normally don't notice. Does anyone have any advice to assist me?? I need to nip this thing in the bud before I develop an ulcer!

What a neat kid

Courtesy of VW of One Happy Dog Speaks, I decided to check out The Lazy Will. He is 10 years old and writes about school. It's great to see such a young blogger! Well, he has some riddles that he would like answers to on this post. Go over and check it out.

Wolf Park here we come!

I am sooooo excited! We made reservations at the Fairfield Inn in Lafayette for the Howl on the Prowl blogmeet! YAY!! I am really looking forward to this! I love my children dearly, but sometimes you just need to get away! Have adult conversations and not have a little one getting you up at 7 am.

Here's the list so far, hopefully I didn't miss anyone, and if I did I do apologize. Feel free to point out your neglect in the comments! I'm not putting myself on here, for obvious reasons!

I look forward to meeting some of you that I haven't met before, and maybe if we have another blogmeet in the summer (for you southern folks) I'll be able to meet a few more, and hopefully make some more great friends! I have met some of my favorite people since my husband started his blog!

UPDATE:

Oddybobo was kind enough to gently remind me that she too will be at the wolf park! How in the world could I have forgotten her!

We don't need no stinkin' TOYS!

This is apparently true of all children, but it was just too cute not to share! While watching TV with Clone one evening, he decided to play on the floor. YAY FOR ME! Normally, he will not go and play, he as to sit on Mommy, pull on my ears, poke at my eyes and just be with me. I got a little wrapped up in my show, and didn't notice until a commercial that he had found the perfect toy to play with....A BOX!

He proceeded to explain to me (in toddlerese) that he wanted to go to Gramma's house. So I asked, "do you want me to mail you there??" to which he repied "yes Momma!" He's just too cute sometimes!

Wabbits

Since my BlogMother-in-Law and BlogSister-in-Law took this test, well...peer pressure and all :)

This is just the mood I am in today.

What was I thinking?

About 2 weeks ago, my eldest son Boopie comes out of his room dressed for school and heads upstairs to brush his teeth. Something didn't look right, but since I was busy trying to get Clone dressed it didn't click right away. When he comes downstairs I look at him and notice his pants are too short.

Me: Those pants are too small!
Boopie: No Mom, they fit just fine (pulls on waistband)
Me: I can see your socks above your shoes.

Seriously, they were about 4 inches too short. Where did these pants come from and why is he wearing them to school?? He looks like he's waiting on a flood! I make him change into another pair of pants. He comes out, and again, the pants are too short, but not quite as bad as the first. I think those will have to do for the day and make a mental note that I will need to go through his clothes and figure out what fits and what doesn't. Sunday night we begin going through his clothes and all be darned if he hasn't outgrown all but 3 pairs of pants! Apparently he grew 3 inches overnight, because the fit just a few weeks ago!

Tonight I announce to my husband that I am taking Boopie clothes shopping and that he is going to keep Clone (no shopping with a 2 year old, thank.you.very.much) and we head off to JC Penney. Once there we head to the young mens department to find him some pants that will fit. I point to the enormous section of pants and tell him "find something you like". He stood there...and looked...and stood there some more. "Are you going to find a pair you want?" I ask. "I'm looking!" How one can look standing next to his mother in the isle I have no idea, not to mention I was right by a large pole that blocked the view of most of the section. After using the cattle prod to make him find some pants and then hauling him off to the dressing room to make sure they fit, we make our purchases.

Maybe next time I'll just let him wear the dorky short pants.

Made ya look!

I saw this at Leslie's Omnibus and though, Hmmm wonder what I am. DISCLAIMER: NO IT'S NOT ME AND I DOUBT THEY ARE REAL!

You Are a Sleek Black Bra!

Subtle, sophisticated, and classy.
You're not the first woman a man notices in the room...
But you're the one he remembers a week later.
You need a guy who will make a lasting impression on you too!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TNT!!

The love of my grandpappy's life turned 21 again today! Happy Birthday to you TNT of Smiling Dynamite! A little bird told me you like big cats, I hope you enjoy this!

Fixem up bug

The end of last week, I finally bought a new light fixture for our bedroom. We really needed one. You see, a couple of years ago we had our ceilings in our upstairs bedrooms replaced (just before Clone was born) but we were left with wires and a plastic fixture with bulbs. It was sad, sorry and probably dangerous. I really wanted to install a ceiling fan, but found out that it would require A LOT MORE EFFORT than I (er...my husband) was willing to do. The whole crawling up into the never been before attic to install bracings, and so on and so forth....well, we just kept putting it off.

Back to the point of the story. At Home Depot last week I found a light fixture I LOVED! It's antique brass with frosted glass and it was on sale for $19! SCORE! I bought it right then and there, with only a little coaxing from my better half. He installed it for me on Saturday and it is so nice to have an actual fixture in the bedroom now! However, I now have a what I like to refer to as "the fixem up bug". I have this uncontrollable desire to go and buy more light fixtures, and to buy paint and rip down nasty wallpaper.

I am trying to control myself and do it one project at a time...but this is getting more and more difficult everyday! It doesn't help that I drive past Home Depot on my way home every night. Is it normal to have this need or am I a freak?

Maybe you shouldn't answer that last part ;P

Mostly Normal

Since my husband took the test, I had to, just to see how much alike we are. Apparently not as much as I thought!

You Are 40% Weird

Normal enough to know that you're weird...
But too damn weird to do anything about it!

We forgive the Irish

Being of Irish decent (Scots-Irish to be exact) I thought I should share this with my readers. Apparently one in twelve Irish men could be descended from Niall of the Nine Hostages, a 5th-century warlord who was head of the most powerful dynasty in ancient Ireland!

Maybe this explains a few things about men!

Jarhead Red!

While listening to my radio at work the other day the morning crew started talking about a new wine, made by Marines. What?!? This is something I have to check out. So I went in search of this new product and I'll be darned if they weren't right!

Apparently a Marine Veteran named Russell Berman took over his family vineyard in Santa Barbara California and started making Jarhead Red Wine. The net proceeds go to the Marine Corps Scholarship Fund, which provides grants to the sons and daughters of Marine's who have served honorably with special attention to children of fallen Marines.

For those of you who are interested, you can purchase a bottle or twelve at the Firestone Vineyard website at http://www.firestonewine.com/level2/press_releases.html. Way to go Mr. Berman!

Wonka vs. Wonka

There is an ongoing debate in the household that I’m afraid I might lose, so I thought I would present my side of the argument and see what everyone else thinks.

My husband and eldest boy announced to me about a week ago that the original “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” is a must better version than the new adaptation staring Johnny Depp. I totally disagree; I enjoyed the new version SO MUCH MORE than the original! The songs are better, the acting is better and the storyline is much darker. Besides, having Johnny Depp in it is an added bonus for me.

In the original, the Oompa Loompa’s are SCARY AS HELL! Little orange men with green hair scared the piss out of me when I was a kid (not much has changed my opinion of them, they are still scary). The new version of the Oompa Loompa’s are really very funny. It’s the same guy in 98578973 different costumes filmed a bazillion times! But we can’t forget Gene Wilder, marvelous man. I appreciate several of his movies, such as “Young Frankenstein” and “Blazing Saddles” both of which I truly adore. I think that Johnny Depp pulled off the disturbed chocolatier much better. The small looks he would give the other characters when they weren’t looking and his childlike innocence at the same time made for a much better Willy Wonka.

Anywho…give me your feedback, good or bad. This is obviously just my opinion, but I feel the need to force it on everyone!

Not at all surprised

You Have a Phlegmatic Temperament

Mild mannered and laid back, you take life at a slow pace.
You are very consistent - both in emotions and actions.
You tend to absorb set backs easily. You are cool and collected.

It is difficult to offend you. You can remain composed and unemotional.
You are a great friend and lover. You don't demand much of others.
While you are quiet, you have a subtle wit that your friends know well.

At your worst, you are lazy and unwilling to work at anything.
You often get stuck in a rut, without aspirations or dreams.
You can get too dependent on others, setting yourself up for abandonment.

The last paragraph is particularly true!

Bonnet tip to Tammi.

Traditional sucky first post

After much arm-twisting, threats and other such nonsense, I decided I would start my own blog. Being not as creative as some other bloggers I know, I’ll have to really work at it but I assume Harvey is right and I will soon find my blog voice!

Onto About Me: You can see a picture of me here, only now I have RED hair (commence drooling now). Corsets are magnificent things, as long as you don’t need to take deep breaths. (Cease drooling now). I am the wife of Contagion of Miasmatic Review and the Mother of two wonderful boys, Boopie, my eldest at 12 and Clone who is nearly 3.

My husband and I are Historical Re-enactors who participate in several events a year, for a full schedule please see our website at www.spoonandblade.com, there is an event schedule that is due to be updated for the 2006 season as well as some other interesting links like Nessa’s Dutch Oven and of course everyone’s favorite The Mortar Maidens.

I grew up in Kansas (a cracker if you will) and moved to Illinois approximately 11 years ago. It was a difficult transition because it gets REALLY COLD up here but I’ve acclimated well, or rather, better than I expected. I met my husband in 1997 and we were married in 1999, 6 ½ years, like 6 ½ minutes, in a burning stairwell! Ahhh but you see, he’s a cheese head and I’m a cracker, and they go together so well!!

My Blog Momma is Tammi of Tammi’s World, the most accepting, loving and understanding woman on the face of the earth and I am proud that she is my Mom! Couldn’t have done this without her belief in me! Oh, and lets not forget my wonderful and selfless husband how helped me out with the HTML… no, I don’t know it very well, but when I screw it up, he’s ready and willing to correct it for me!

Welp, here I go Blogosphere! Watch out! I might hurt something…
